This article is about how Race Roster is complying with legislation and facilitating single prominent price displays for events in Oceania. If your event is in North America, please visit our other article about SPP.
About single prominent pricing
A “single prominent price” (SPP) is a display price that includes all fee components required by local law. SPP type laws have been introduced in multiple regions across across the world, including some in Oceania, with more being added in 2025. We currently support SPP in the following regions:
Australia
- for all states of Australia, SPP became mandatory on Race Roster effective May 14, 2025 (source)
New Zealand
- for all regions of New Zealand, SPP became mandatory on Race Roster effective May 14, 2025 (source)
For Oceania regions where SPP is mandatory, configured sub-event prices on participant facing pages will be replaced with display prices calculated with the following components:
- sub-event price
- additional charges applicable to the sub-event
- required products
- additional charges applicable to the required products
- taxes applicable to both the sub-event and any required products
- Race Roster processing fees
For any Oceania regions where SPP is optional (none currently), each event can choose if and when to enable SPP for their participant facing pages.
Please note that for events in Australia and New Zealand, the Race Roster processing fee is absorbed. This means that Race Roster calculates the processing fee due and, rather than adding it on top of the set price to "pass it on" to the registrant, we deduct it post-transaction from the event. As an effect, oftentimes the SPP will be the same as the set price (for example, when no mandatory products or taxes apply). Read more below for examples.
Single prominent pricing tab
For events in applicable regions, the single prominent pricing tab can be found within the Settings > Pricing page of your event dashboard. This tab will allow you to enable and/or be advised about SPPs displayed on the event's public-facing pages. This tab will list all configured sub-event prices and their corresponding single prominent prices.
This page can be used as a "cheatsheet" to determine what price to advertise on any custom content not generated by Race Roster (for example, on your website, email campaigns, marketing materials, or social media posts). Additionally, the page can be used as a reference point when tweaking your sub-event price to produce a "round number" SPP.
To navigate the Single Prominent Pricing tab, please follow the steps below.
1. From your event dashboard, click on Settings > Pricing from the lefthand menu.
2. Click on the single prominent pricing tab from the pricing strategies page.
3. If enabled/mandatory, all of your sub-event prices will appear, grouped by their pricing strategy type (fixed, scheduled or block). The "SPP price" is the single prominent price calculated by Race Roster for the applicable sub-event. The "Set price" is the price which you configured for the sub-event.
In the screenshot below, the SPP prices and the set prices are identical.
By contrast, in the screenshot below some of the SPP prices and set prices are different:
Example 1: For all Oceania events, when tax settings are enabled and a tax rate applies to products and sub-events, the tax amount is included in the single prominent price. See screenshot below.
Example 2: For all Oceania events, when a paid, mandatory product applies to a sub-event, the mandatory product price is included in the single prominent price. See screenshot below.
