This article is about how Race Roster is complying with legislation and facilitating single prominent price displays for events in North America. If your event is in Oceania, please visit our other article about SPP.
About single prominent pricing
A “single prominent price” (SPP) is a display price that includes all fee components required by local law. SPP legislation has been introduced in multiple regions across North America, with more being added in 2025. We currently support SPP in the following regions:
United States
- California - SB-478 (required)
- Colorado - HB24-1378 (required)
- Connecticut - SB1058 (required)
- Maryland - SB0539 (required)
- Minnesota - HF3438 (required)
- Tennessee - SB1043 (required)
- NEW for 2025: for the remainder of US, SPP becomes optional on Race Roster effective May 7, and required effective May 12 (source)
Canada
- all provinces and territories (except Quebec) are required to use SPP effective December 2, 2024
- NEW for 2025: Quebec is also required to use SPP effective May 2 (source)
For all Race Roster events in North American regions where SPP is mandatory (except the province of Quebec), configured sub-event prices on participant facing pages will be replaced with display prices calculated to include the following components:
- sub-event price
- additional charges applicable to the sub-event
- required products
- additional charges applicable to the required products
- Race Roster processing fees
For events in the province of Quebec:
- in addition to the components listed above, taxes are also included
Note: For all other North American events, applicable taxes are currently not included in the single prominent price; they will only appear, if at all, at checkout.
For any regions where SPP is optional, each event can choose if and when to enable SPP for their participant facing pages.
Single prominent pricing tab
For events in applicable regions, the single prominent pricing tab can be found within the Settings > Pricing page of your event dashboard. This tab will allow you to enable and/or be advised about SPPs displayed on the event's public-facing pages. This tab will list all configured sub-event prices and their corresponding single prominent prices.
This page can be used as a "cheat sheet" to determine what price to advertise on any custom content not generated by Race Roster (for example, on your website, email campaigns, marketing materials, or social media posts). Additionally, the page can be used as a reference point when tweaking your sub-event price to produce a "round number" SPP.
To navigate the Single Prominent Price tab, please follow the steps below.
1. From your event dashboard, click on Settings > Pricing from the lefthand menu.
2. Click on the single prominent pricing tab from the pricing strategies page.
3. If enabled/mandatory, all of your sub-event prices will appear, grouped by their pricing strategy type (fixed, scheduled, or block). The "SPP price" is the single prominent price calculated by Race Roster for the applicable sub-event. The "Set price" is the price which you configured for the sub-event.
4. For regions where SPP is optional, you may turn SPP on or off for your public-facing pages using the toggle.
