Events that offer challenge or bundle registrations that allow for entry into multiple sub-events within one registration can assign bibs to their runners in different ways. It is always advised that event organizers and timers communicate on how bib numbers for any challenge sub-events should be assigned. In this article, we will outline different ways to assign bibs to challenge sub-event registrants.
Method #1 - Assigning one bib number for all sub-events within the challenge
1. From your event dashboard, click on Participants -> Bib management from the lefthand side menu.
2. Within your bib management settings, ensure that bib assignments is enabled.
3. Scroll down to your Bib assignment settings and select either of the two following options depending on how your event is organized:
- Enable duplicate bib assignment for this entire event
-
Only enable duplicate bib assignment for specific sub-events
- Select any specific/applicable sub-events for this option
These settings will allow you to assign the same bib number across multiple sub-events within your event. Click save.
4. To assign duplicate bib numbers across multiple sub-events, this can either be done by manually editing bib numbers from the participant list or participant search tool, or, via a .csv file upload.
To perform a .csv upload, click on the Upload bib assignments tab at the top of the page.
5. From your upload bib assignment settings, prepare your csv. file to meet the upload requirements listed under Bulk upload checklist. Ensure that the setting Allow the same bib number to be assigned is enabled. Click the blue Choose from files button to select your .csv file of bib numbers and complete your upload. Your file should look similar to the screen shotted example below with two columns: Participant ID, and Bib number.
6. After completing the upload, your duplicate bib number should be assigned to all three of the registrations.
Method #2 - Assigning unique bib numbers per sub-event included within a challenge
1. From your event dashboard, click on Participants -> Bib management from the lefthand side menu.
2. Within your bib management settings, ensure that bib assignments is enabled.
3. Under your Bib assignment settings, select the setting Do not allow duplicate bib numbers to be assigned. This will ensure that only unique bib numbers are being assigned to each registration record.
4. Select your bib assignment method of choice. Bibs can be assigned automatically using pre-set date ranges, through batch assignment, or through a .csv file upload.
5. Each sub-event within the challenge/bundle will have its own unique bib number, meaning that the runner must pick up different bibs for each respective distance at packet pickup.
