Block pricing: Prices set on sub-events that update as the number of registered participants increases. Each pricing block is determined by thresholds for the number of participants registered for the event.
For example, an event may want to charge $70 each for the first 500 registrants of its Half Marathon sub-event, then $75 for the next 500 registrants (i.e., registrants No. 501 to 1000), and finally $80 for the remainder of registrants (i.e., registrant No. 1001 and above). Here is what that block pricing strategy would look like:
Set-up
1. Go to the search bar in the top lefthand menu. Search and click Pricing.
2. From the pricing strategies page, click the green "+ Create pricing strategy" button and choose "Block pricing".
3. From the block pricing page, first select the sub-event(s) to which you would like to apply block pricing.
4. As an option, you can select
- Show elapsed prices on the event details page
- Show future prices on event details page
which allows you to give less or more information to web page visitors.
5. Set the participant range by entering the final number which will sell out each succeeding block. Then, set the prices for the blocks.
If a block is free of charge, check off "Free". The "Price" field will transform into "Display as", should you want to substitute the word "Free" with another term or message.
For all blocks, free or priced, you may also add a description. Descriptions appear on both the event details page and in the registration form.
Check off "Show pricing" if you want the price to display on the event page and on the registration form. Check off "Show date / range" if you also want the participant number range to display for that pricing block on the event page; the range does not show on the registration form.
6. Click "+ Add block" to keep adding participant ranges and prices, as needed. Should you want a sub-event to stop selling once a specific participant threshold is reached, edit the event/sub-event limits.
7. Once all mandatory fields are filled, click the blue "Save & exit" button. Back on the pricing page, you'll see your recently created block pricing strategy, including a meter indicating the number of participants in the sub-events comprising the strategy.
